Asian Branch Library
Established in 1975, the Asian Branch Library in Oakland was the first Pan-Asian public library in the United States that housed materials in multiple Asian languages. The branch’s first Library Director was Judy Yung, historian and author of books such as Unbound Voices: A Documentary History of Chinese women in San Francisco and Angel Island: Immigrant Gateway to America.
This video was created for the Asian Branch Library’s 40th anniversary celebration in 2015.
