Madison Park

The Madison Park area used to be an important part of the Chinatown community that included Dragon Park, Ming Quong home for girls, True Sunshine Episcopal Church, and dozens of homes. To make way for the Lake Merritt BART Station, these three blocks were demolished in the late 1960s and hundreds of residents were displaced. These video shorts tell the story of this history and the resilience of the Tai Chi community that now has reclaimed the blocks.
